After the Studies of Composition
at the Santa Cecilia Academy of Music he attended at courses of conducting
with Bruno Campanella, Sergiu Celibidache and Franco Ferrara.
Then he studied with Leonard Bernstein
and assisted him in his conducting by some of the most important orchestras
in the world.
Conductor, Composer and Organiser
of musical events, after the debut on Hans Werner Henze’s invitation,
he conducted orchestras like Roma, Palermo and Bologna Opera Houses, RAI
Torino and with the Chamber Orchestra of Santa Cecilia, the Schleswig
Holstein Philharmonie, the Dresden Philharmonie, the Orchestra Capitol
de Toulouse, the Philharmonie Enescu of Bucharest and so on, and for festivals
like “Festival de Musica de Canaries” (Donizetti’s “Elisir
d’Amore” with Roberto Alagna and Carlos Alvarez).
It was large his collaboration
with the Chamber Orchestra of Santa Cecilia for recordings (Pergolesi,
Puccini, Vivaldi) and tours.
As composer he wrote music for
Theatre and Cinema working with directors like Bernardo Bertolucci and
Franco Zeffirelli (Callas for Ever).
Since 1991 he supervised the projects
of “Ravello Città della Musica” creating a youth Orchestra.
In 1999 he was the Artistic Director
of the Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo.
Since 1999 till 2002 he was Artistic
Director of Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova.
