Eric Génovèse graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in 1991; he is rapidly engaged to interprete major roles such as Cléandre in La Place Royale, and then Ptolemy in La Mort de Pompée, two works by Corneille as well as Louis Laine in l’Echange by Paul Claudel in Paris, Geneva and on international tour. Eric Génovèse joined
the Comédie Française on 1st December 1993, and became shareholding
actor of the Comédie Française on 1st January 1998; there
he interpreted the juvenile lead roles of the classical repertory of Shakespeare
(Fortinbras,Caliban),Racine (Hippolyte, Xipharès, Oreste),Molière,
Corneille , but also contemporary repertory: Brecht, Camus, Pasolini,
Ionesco, Audureau, Copi, T. Kushner and M. Duras under the directors such
as S.Nordey, D.Mesguich, R. Planchon, G. Lavaudant, J. Lavelli , J-L Boutté,
B.Jaques, B. Jacquot, A. Delbée, A. Serban, Y. Chahine, L. Hemleb, He has appeared in several television films, as well as in films for the cinema, for example in Jefferson in Paris by James Ivory, in La Place Royale directed by Benoït Jacquot, and in Le Droit à l’Oubli directed by Gérard Vergez… The career of Eric Génovèse as a stage director is illustrated mainly through his production of Les Juives by Robert Garnier, at the Théâtre du Marais in 2001, Les Samedis du Vieux Colombier and Studio Theatre de la Comédie Française on the Holy Bible, Agrippa d’Aubigné, Gertrude Stein or La Légende des Siècles by Victor Hugo in 2002. Finally, in addition to this intense stage activity, he participated to numerous dramas for Radio France and recorded an Anthology of French Poetry for the company Frémeaux and Associates. At the same time as his acting career, in the last few years he took on numerous roles as a narrator in major musical works, such as King David by Arthur Honegger in Besançon and Pontarlier, Bassa Selim in L’Enlèvement au Sérail by Mozart, under the direction of John Nelson, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris with Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Lélio by Berlioz , at the Roma Opera, also with John Nelson, with a tremendous success. He then collaborated with Orchestre National d’Ile de France in L’Histoire du Soldat by Stravinsky (the soldier) under the direction of Gordan Nikolitch at the Salle Gaveau in Paris and on tour. Last season he interpreted: Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien by Debussy with Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg under the direction of Emmanuel Krivine in Luxembourg and at the Arsenal of Metz in December 2003; a new production of Fables de la Fontaine staged by Bob Wilson at the Comédie Française. This season Eric Génovèse
will also be staging Le Privilège des Chemins by Fernando Pessoa
in collaboration with the IRCAM; then he will be Eugène Jr in Embrasser
les Ombres by Lars Noren (staged by Joel Jouanneau), and Tartuffe (title
role) by Molière (staged by Marcel Bozonnet), also at the Comédie

has been awarded by the French Ministry of Culture of “Chevalier
des Arts et Lettres” in December 1991.
