«
Tchetuev brought a genuine thrill –
a sound that Neuhaus, Sofronitsky and Richter would have
recognised. That indefinable ‘Russian’ quality
in the mid-range, the crystalline treble and the defined
bass, all combined with a very strong interpretative personality.
In a word – glorious! »

Beaming like a laser, confident yet unaggressive, shining,
colourful, structured without being rigid, the work of Igor
Tchetuev makes every piece’s vital force emerge »

They were then joined by the 26-year-old pianist Igor Tchetuev
for Rachmaninov Third Concerto which received a magnificent
performance which dug deep beneath the surface to reveal
aspects of the composer’s genius rarely heard in this
masterpiece. Igor Tchetuev is a virtuoso to rank with the
best. He did not merely treat the work as a vehicle for
display; this was an intensely musical, engrossing and impressive
reading throughout… » |
