Josep RIBOT

 

Born in Mallorca (Spain), bass Josep Miquel Ribot began his musical and vocal studies at the Conservatory of the Balearic Islands. In Mallorca he sings as a soloist in several oratorios. He started his vocal studies with Eulàlia Salbanyà and performed the role of Simone in "La Finta Semplice".
He then follows his studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York where he obtains his Bachelor's of Music in 1997, in Edward Zambara's studio.

After studying with great singers in the USA among which Marylin Horne, he joins in September 97 the "Centre de Formation Lyrique" of the National Opera of Paris. This same year he performs in Bastille productions of Berg's Lulu and Massenet's Manon.

With the "Orchestre des jeunes français" he interprets the role of "Don Inigo Gomez" in "L'heure Espagnole" in a tournée of France with Jesus Lopez Cobos in 98/99 including the Cité de la musique (La Villette - Paris). He has performed the same role on July 2000 in Orange.

At Bastille he sings the part of a journalist in Berg's “Lulu” and in "La Guerre et la Paix".
He is finally given at Bastille the part of Masetto in "Don Giovanni" in January 2000 conducted by Maestro Layer (with Ferruccio Furlanetto).
He comes back to Bastille to sing several parts among which Hermann in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" under M° Lopez Cobos, Wagner in “Faust”, Pinellino in Gianni Schicchi, …
