Sophie KOCH

 

Born in France, Sophie KOCH studies with Jane Berbié and first performed in France. 1998 she makes her international debut in London at the Royal Opera House as Rosina (“The Barber of Seville”).

Since that time she appears regularly in all great French and European theatres, like Toulouse, Bavarian State Opera Munich, Dresden, Brussels, Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Real Madrid, Paris (Châtelet and Bastille) Covent Garden, Vienna State Opera, Scala, Salzbourg Festival, Carlo Felice Genova., Capitole Toulouse, etc…
As from season 2004, she is booked until 2008 :
Rosenkavalier et Cosi fan Tutte Salzbourg Festival ; Rosenkavalier in Monte-Carlo ; Octavian in Zuerich. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Octavian, Idamante) and Charlotte in Werther ; at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Marina in Boris Godounov; Cherubino and Ramiro (Finta Giardinera) at Covent Garden and in Dresden, Munich , Vienna (Octavian, Cenerentola, Zerlina, Komponist, Dorabella), Mignon, Dorabella et Nerone (Couronnement de Popée) and Le Roi d’Ys and Octavian at the Capitole Toulouse, Idamante and Marguerite at the Semper Oper…Nicklaus at the MET….

Sophie Koch sings notably with Christian Thielemann, Seiji Ozawa, Valery Gergiev, Pinchas Steinberg, Ivor Bolton, Sir Colin Davis, Marc Elder, Antonio Papano, Michel Plasson, Sir Roger Norrington, Semyon Byckhov, Jesus Lopez Cobos, John Nelson, Antonio Pappano, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Zubin Mehta, Franz Welser-Moest, Kurt Masur, the Staatskapelle Dresden, l’Orchestre du Maggio Musicale de Florence, l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Orchester der Bayerischen Rundfunk, l’Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, l’Orchestre National de Lyon, the Hallé Orchestra and the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Sophie Koch is also giving many recitals, notably twice at the Brahmssaal/Wiener Musikeverein in Vienna, and in Paris and at the Frankfurter Oper and Wigmore Hall and Salzburg Festival…

Her first recordings were dedicated to Lieder by Wolf and Schubert on poems by Goethe and to a music chamber CD with works by Fauré, Chausson and Respighi by Le Chant du Monde. She also participates to “Peer Gynt” (Teldec) and “Manon” (EMI) and to the world premiere of Laurent Petitgirard “Elefant Man”. She also did Wellesz’ and Bloch‘s Lieder with the Deutsche Symphony Orchestra (Capriccio) and did excerpts from” Ariadne auf Naxos” (Komponist) with Natalie Dessay, the Covent Garden Orchestra and M° Papano for Virgin/Emi, as well as Schumann Lieder with Nelson Goerner (Cascavelle)

She received 2001 the Christel Goltz's Price at the Semper Opera Dresden.
