Winner of the 27th international
‘Toti dal Monte’ competition in Treviso, Mezzo soprano Sophie
Pondjiclis already sung under the baton of renowned conductors such as
Myung-Whung Chung (Teatro Comunale di Firenze and Opera Bastille), Riccardo
Muti and Gary Bertini (La Scala) , Serge Baudo (Opéra Bastille,
Opéra de Marseille, Konzerthaus in Berlin), Uwe Mund (Las Palmas),
Ingo Metzmacher (Hamburg Opera), Jonathan Darlington (Palais Garnier),
Charles Dutoit (Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris)
etc…
At the Théâtre Musical
Paris Châtelet, Sophie Pondjiclis was invited by the Ensemble Intercontemporain
for "Les Noces" by Stravinski, Maestro David Robertson conducting,
and some months later she sung the same work with the Philharmonic Orchestra
of Radio France conducted by Maestro Marek Janowski and again in Rome
with the Accademia Italiana di Santa Cecilia.
Sophie Pondjiclis is also interested
in contemporary repertoires and for the centennial of Darius Milhaud,
she has been performing the title role of “Esther de Carpentras“.
A versatile artist Miss Pondjiclis
has been equally sought after as recitalist and performed at the Scala
of Milan, at the Châtelet, at the Studio Bastille, at the National
Theater of Mannheim, at the Villa Medici in Rome and so on.
In November 96, Sophie Pondjiclis
recorded Theodore Gouvy’s “Stabat Mater” for the K617
Label.
Sophie Pondjiclis just made her
debut in the leading roles of Carmen and Ruggiero in Alcina by Haendel,
as well as Rosina in Barbiere di Siviglia in Italy (in italian after debuting
the part some time ago in French).
Among highlights of her last performances,
a debut in Berlin/Konzerthaus with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in the
title part of “L’Enfant et les Sortilèges”, Maestro
Serge Baudo conducting, Isaura/Tancredi in Marseille, ”Norma”
in concert version during the Ravello Festival, Marcelline in “Le
Nozze di Figaro” at the Théâtre des champs Elysées
in Paris, as well as in Montreux, Madrid and Amsterdam (Conductor René
Jacobs, staging Jean-Louis Martinoty), Dardano in “Amadigi”
by Haendel at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Olga/Eugene Oneguine at
the Grand Théâtre de Genève “La Mort de Cléopâtre”
during the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto etc…
During the 2002/2003 season,
Sophie Pondjiclis will successively sing the part of Dorabella (Cosi fan
Tutte), Agamède in the world premiere of “Médée”
by Michèle Reverdy at the Lyon Opera, “Le Nozze di Figaro”
and “Verlaine Paul” by Georges Boeuf, both in Marseille.
In 2004 will she be back at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées
in Paris and Barbican Center in London for “Le Nozze di Figaro”.
