Anna Steiger performs regularly
in opera, concert, and recital throughout Europe and the United States.
Since making her highly successful debut at Glyndebourne in the title
role of Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea she has returned to
sing in many productions there in roles such as Concepcion /L’Heure
Espagnole.She then began to sing at other Opera house in the UK, at Covent
Garden in Parsifal, Jenufa and The Knot Garden, and at the English National
Opera in Makropoulos Case.
Since then, she has sung roles of Despina ,Zerlina, Governess/ Turn of the Screw, Jenny/Mahagonny, Composer/Ariadne auf Naxos, Concepcion, Serpettal/La Finta Giardiniera and Damigella/ Incoronazione di Poppea at the Salzburg Festival.
In 1994/1995 she decided to follow
her natural vocal leaning towards the mezzo-soprano repertoire with some
success, singing:

Flora/Traviata , Meg Page / Falstaff in Amsterdam,
Melanto /Ritorno d’Ulisse at BAM in NY with Netherlands Opera,
La Libellule,La Tasse Chinoise and La Mère /L’Enfant et les
Sortileges at la Fenice,
Gertrude/ Romeo and Juliet at the Choregies d’Orange.
In 2002/2003 she sang Tisbe at
Opera Garnier Paris and Marseille,Faust in Avignon and Reims, Le Comte
Ory at Opera Comique in Paris, Annina /Traviata in Antibes.
In 2003/2004 she sang Auntie/Peter Grimes in Toronto, Lulu in Bastille
, Elektra in Toulouse, Marcelline/Le Nozze di Figaro in Los Angeles.
In 2004/2005 she sang in Amsterdam Clotilde/Norma, Berta /Barbiere di
Siviglia under the direction of Jean-Claude Malgoire in Lille and “Angels
in America” in Hambourg.
In 2005/2006 she sang in Los Angeles Marcellina/Le Nozze di Figaro , Baronne
de Champigny in IL Capello di Firenze in Lausanne Opera and “Angels
in America” at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam and Marzelline/Le
Nozze di Figaro in Theatre de Caen.
In 2007/2008 she returned at Opera Amsterdam to sing Alisa / Lucia di
Lammermoor.
This season she has sung Pierrot Lunaire in Metz and will sing Annina/Traviata
at the Opera de Lyon.
Next season she will sing Annina/Traviata in Montpellier.
She has sung many times
with Mo Harnoncourt,and recorded with him the role of Despina for Teldec
with the Concertgebouw Orchestra.She has also performed with important
conductors such as Sir N. Marriner, Simon Rattle, Riccardo Chailly, B.
Campanella,Alberto Zedda, Bernard Haitink,Kent Nagano,Michael Tilson-Thomas.
She has made a videodisc of Varese’s Offrandes with Pierre Boulez
and the IRCAM of Paris.
