Sophie GRAF |
After qualifying as a harpist
and as a lawyer in Geneva, Sophie Graf, born in Switzerland, studied for
two years as a postgraduate at the famous Guildhall School of Music and
drama in London supported by the Ernst Goehner and the Pro Arte Foundations.
She studied then in the opera course at the Royal Scottish Academy of
music and drama in Glasgow where she obtained a Master in Opera with distinction
in 2001 supported by the Migros Ernst Goehner, the Leenards Foundations,
the Tillet Trust, the Texaco Award and the City of Geneva.
She won several prizes as the Jaccard-Villard Price, the David Kelly at
the Mozart Competition, French Opera at the Saint-Anges Competition in
Paris, Margaret Dick, YE Cronies, Frank Speeding Lieder in Scotland. She
was finalist in Verviers International Competition and at promotion Lyrique
in Paris.
She participates at the “Escales
Musicales” in Evian Festival, at the Emperi Festival, in Gstaad
for “The Sommets Musicaux” and at La Roque d’Anthéron
Festival.
She sang under the baton of Jean-Yves
Ossonce, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Fayçal Karoui, Pierre Amoyal , Claude
Schnitzler, Stefan Sanderling….
She was Manon (Massenet) in Glasgow
in 2002, Sophie (Werther/Massenet) in Tours 2001, Naïade (Ariadne
auf Naxos/Strauss) in Nice in 2004, Gilda (Rigoletto/Verdi) in Dijon in
2005 and Rita (Donizetti), Frau Herz (Schauspieldirektor/Mozart), Gasparina
(Canterina/Haydn) in Lausanne and Leïla (Pêcheurs de Perles/Bizet)
in Maastricht/Netherlands with Opera Zuid.
In 2006/2007 she sang Barberina
in Mozart’s Noces de Figaro in Nantes Opera, Julie in Frank Martin’s
Monsieur de Pourceaugnac in Lausanne Opera , Frasquita in Bizet’s
Carmen in the Capitole of Toulouse and Leïla in Bizet’s Pêcheurs
de Perles in Tours.
In 2007/2008 she sang Adèle
(La Chauve-Souris/Strauss) and Frasquita (Carmen/Bizet) at the Lausanne
Opera and also in a tour in Japan.
In concert she sang in Naples in L’Enfant Prodigue by Debussy .
Among her projects she will sing
the First Niece in Peter Grimes by Britten in Naples and Carmen/Frasquita
at the Capitole in Toulouse.
In concert she sings cantatas by Webern with Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.
She will sing Laoula in L’Etoile
by Chabrier at the Grand Théâtre de Genève in November/December
2009.
