Jennifer RINGO

Soprano Jennifer Ringo has performed with prominent opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout North America and Europe.

Acclaimed for her crystalline voice and dramatic stage presence, she made her professional debut with the San Francisco Opera in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor. She has sung leading roles with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Houston Grand Opera, Canadian Opera Company and the opera companies of Atlanta, Long Beach and Minnesota in many leading soprano roles in La Boheme, Rigoletto , Ariadne auf Naxos, Nozze di Figaro among others. She recently performed to great acclaim, Marie in Wozzeck, The Infanta in Der Zwerg, and Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes.

Jennifer Ringo's orchestral appearances in Europe have included concerts with Orchestre National de France, Gürzenich Orchester/Cologne Philharmonic, Vienna Kammerorkest, Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Berliner Rundfunk Orchester, and orchestras of Barcelona, Palma de Majorca and Nice. She recently appeared in a televised performance of La Voix Humaine at the Triennale Festival in Cologne.

In America, Jennifer Ringo has sung with the orchestras of Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Houston. In addition, she performs at many United States summer music festivals, including Aspen, Cincinnati May Festival, Caramoor, Ravinia and Tanglewood, as well as at Hollywood Bowl.

Born of Cuban-American parents, Jennifer Ringo is a graduate of the University of Iowa and The Juilliard School of Music. She was winner of the Metropolitan Opera auditions, participated in the San Francisco Opera's Merola program and was a member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio.

Recent appearances include Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes with Opera de Tours, the Countess in Marriage of Figaro with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon and Berg's Seven Early Songs with the Aspen Festival Orchestra., along with recitals in Cincinnati and Paris. This summer she will perform three songs of Osvaldo Golijov with the Aspen Festival Orchestra. In 2003/2004 Miss Ringo will sing Songs on Poems by Emily Dickinson by Michael Tilson-Thomas in Lisbon and in Finland.

Miss Ringo lives in Paris with her husband, James Conlon, and two daughters, Emma and Luisa.
