Noticed by Christa Ludwig, she polishes her technique and repertoire with the famous mezzo soprano and subsequently wins prizes in international singing competitions: Verviers and Montserrat Caballé in 2003, Toulouse and Voix Nouvelles in 2002, as well as being nominated "Révélation Lyrique de l'Adami" in 2005. Vourc' h made her debut as Pamina for the Mons Royal Theatre (Belgium) before joining the Zürich Opera Studio for the 2003-2004 season. She sang there in Strauss' Elektra conducted by C. von Dohnanyi and in Fedora, along with Mirella Freni, with conductor Ranzani. In France, after being Pamina in Avignon, she had the opportunity to sing her repertoire's major roles: Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) conducted by J.Y. Ossonce, Musetta (Bohême) in Tours in G. Bouillon's staging, Fiordiligi(Cosi fan tutte) and the Countess (Nozze di Figaro) first under J. Rohrer's direction then in Lausanne under J. Mena, staged by Marelli. She just made her debuts as Traviata with conductor D. Trottein. In the contemporary repertoire, she has sung G. Conesson's Medea, composed for her as well as doing the four women's roles in P. Eötvös' Le Balcon conducted by S. Petitjean. On the concert stage, she is a regular guest of the Tours Symphony Orchestra (Mozart's Requiem - Exultate, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mahler's 4th, Beethoven's 9th), Marseille (Mozart's Crowning Mass), Avignon (Mozart's Mass in C, Beethoven's 9th Symphony). In Zürich, she has sung Rossini's Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solennelle) and Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras with the Novossibirsk Chamber Orchestra. Karen Vourc'h appears also in recitals, along with pianists such as Susan Manoff, J.P. Collard, D. Greisammer etc., participating in numerous festivals (Théâtre de Mogador, Festival de St Denis, Prades, Aix-en-Provence, Essaouira, Sully sur Loire), often broadcasted by France Musiques. Upcoming projects include the world premiere of V. Cosma's opera Marius et Fanny where she will sing the title role with R. Alagna, Musetta (Bohême) in Avignon, Mélisande in Tours, Orpheus in the Underworld in Montpellier with Hervé Niquet and Juliette in P. Dusapin's Romeo and Juliet at the Paris Opéra Comique in 2008.
