HOFFMAN |
TOBY HOFFMAN performs internationally as both
soloist and chamber musician.
He has performed at the Aspen , Chamber Music
Northwest, Marlboro, and Seattle chamber music festivals, and has made
orchestral appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic,
Florida Orchestra and Prague Chamber Orchestra, among others. With the
Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Mr. HOFFMAN has performed on
dozens of occasions, both on tour and at Alice Tully Hall. Recently, he
performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Charles Dutoit and at the
Salzburg Festival playing chamber music with pianist Maurizio Pollini.
Mr. HOFFMAN's discography includes a recent release
of French chamber music with André Previn for RCA, and almost all
of Mozart's chamber music with violinist Salvatore Accardo.
Mr. HOFFMAN, born in Vancouver, B.C., is from
a distinguished family of musicians including his mother, Esther Glazer,
with whom he studied violin and his brother, cellist Gary Hoffman. He
holds degree from the Juilliard School, where he studied viola with Paul
Doktor.
Currently he plays on a 1628 Antonio and Hieronymus
Amati viola made in Cremona, Italy, which formerly belonged to Queen Victoria
of England.
