Dimitri Maslennikov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1980 and commenced his music studies at a very young age. Already in 1992, at the age of twelve, he won the International Young Soloists Competition in Moscow and the Czech International Competition in Prague. At the age of fourteen, he received a three-year scholarship from the French government in order to study at the Paris Conservatory and from that time settled in France. In 2007, he is invited by the
Russian Symphony Orchestra at the Great Hall of Moscow
Conservatory under M°Wilson Hermanto, by the Bamberger Symphoniker
under M° Christoph Eschenbach, and plays two concerts with the New
European Chamber Orchestra. Dimitri Maslennikov has appeared
at many renowned festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Festival
in Germany, the Colmar Festival in France, the Verbier
Festival in Switzerland, the Ravinia Festival
in Chicago (USA), as well as giving concerts at Suntory Hall
in Tokyo, with the Orchestre de Paris in France, with
the NDR Orchestra in Hamburg, Germany, with The Philadelphia
Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
in the United States. Dimitri Maslennikov has made several recordings, most recently of both concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich together with Christoph Eschenbach and the NDR Orchestra for the Capriccio label. An avid performer of chamber music, Mr. Maslennikov has given recitals and chamber concerts in many European cities, as well as in the United States. Mr. Maslennikov was the recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Fellowship in 2005, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians in order to help them advance their careers. He plays a Matteo Goffriller cello
made in 1700.
